I would like to exclude UV Uptime hits from my website logs. What IP address do you use so I can can exclude them?
UV Uptime has multiple check locations, so depending on which server checks your site the IP address may vary. Possible
IP addresses for our check servers are 75.102.35.7 and 75.102.35.8.
How long do you retain data?
For active customers, we retain data for two years. For inactive customers, we destroy data 30 days after the last active URL check.
As soon as I signed up, I started receiving alerts. I checked and my website is online. What's wrong?
This could be happening for a number of reasons. All new accounts are configured without any options for their URLs. If the URL you added requires a password, a cookie, referring URL, posted form data, or any number of other options that have not yet been specified in the URL detail section of the Customer Management Area, these could all trigger alerts. Additionally, if you entered a word or phrase for Text Inspector and entered a typo, or a word or phrase that does not occur in the first 1K of the document, this could also trigger an alert.
How do I temporarily stop UV Uptime from checking my site?
Log in to the Customer Management Area, click the expand button for the URL you'd like to temporarily stop monitoring, and click the 'Suspend' link. UV Uptime will not check that URL until you log in and re-activate checks to that URL by clicking the 'Resume' link. Billing will continue normally unless you cancel the URL. We offer a 'Scheduled Downtime' option if you have regular maintenance times during which you'd rather not be alerted about error conditions.
I cancelled a URL in my account. I shows up as cancelled, but I am still getting alerts when my site goes down. What is going on?
When a URL is cancelled, we continue to monitor it until your next billing date. You paid to have it monitored for the entire period and we want to make sure you get what you paid for. If you would like us to discontinue monitoring for that URL immediately, you can suspend checks on it or contact us. We do not offer refunds for unused monitoring services.
My company does not make payments via credit card. Can you send us an invoice for payment each month?
We offer online checks as a payment method and we can debit your checking account via ACH. If that does not work for you, we will send invoices via e-mail or USPS upon request for quarterly or annual payment plans.
Do you offer discounts?
We offer a 10% discount if you pay quarterly and a 20% discount if you pay annually. In addition, we also waive setup fees for additional URLs and offer bulk discount pricing once your monthly volume exceeds $1,000.
I don't understand what was billed to my credit card. How can I find out more details?
If you go to the Billing section of the Customer Management Area, you will find a detailed listing of each charge. If you require assistance beyond that, please contact us.
What kind of server systems do you monitor? Do you monitor SSL secured websites?
We monitor systems, servers, and devices of all kinds. As long as you have a publicly accessible URL, we can monitor it.
How will I be alerted if you detect site downtime or an alert condition gets triggered?
You will be notified according to your account preferences. On an account level, you have the option to specify two contacts and each contact has multiple alert methods. For more on alerts, please click here.
How will I know when my website is online again?
Ideally, as soon as you receive an alert notification you will fix the error yourself or contact somebody who will. So, you would either know when you fixed it or whoever you contacted would tell you. We also offer Recovery Alerts if you would like us to notify you when we verify that your error conditions recover.
Is it possible to check for a word or phrase on the URL each time you monitor it?
Absolutely. It is called Text Inspector and comes standard for all monitoring levels. We allow you to search for two separate words or phrases per URL. You can specify these in the Customer Management Area under the 'Edit Details' link. For more information on Text Inspector, please click here.
How do you know that an error condition is really a problem with my URL and not something with your systems or network?
We prevent against erroneous alerts through a few different ways. Without giving away too many of our secrets, we can tell you that each alert is verified by another monitoring server in a separate data center, on a separate network. If any of our monitoring servers can not contact each other, that server stops checking URLs, another server picks up its checks, and the server in question ceases to send any alerts until the problem is diagnosed and fixed by our staff.
Why do I get traceroutes with my e-mail notifications?
Traceroutes are useful in troubleshooting exactly where a network related error is occurring. In addition, many times website hosting providers require traceroutes as proof that a site was down before they issue a credit.
